Police are asking for the public's help in solving the 1983 killing of a Waialua woman outside a convenience store.

Esther Stone was shot and killed as she finished filling her car with gasoline outside the 7-Eleven store on Kamehameha Highway in Pearl City. The shooting happened at 1:40 a.m. on Oct. 6, 1983.

Police believe the shot was fired from the area of what was then Pearl City Tavern across Lehua Street. The bullet went through Stone's body and was never recovered, police said.

Police ask anyone with information on this case to call Honolulu CrimeStoppers at 955-8300 or *CRIME on a cell phone.
