LAHAINA, Maui — The Department of Land and Natural Resources will hold an informational meeting about the Mala boat ramp improvement project, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, at the Lahaina Intermediate School, 871 Lahainaluna Road.

DLNR's project contractor, American Marine Corp., will share the most current information with boaters about its planned maintenance dredging of 3,300 cubic yards of material from the boat ramp basin. The anticipated start date for the project is mid to late November.

The Mala boat ramp was last dredged in 1999.

"These improvements are part of the Lingle-Aiona Administration's ongoing efforts to upgrade our state small boat harbors and to ensure accessibility, safety, and comfort of all residents and visitors who use the boating facilities," said DLNR chairperson Laura H. Thielen.

Any person requiring special assistance (i.e. large print material, sign language interpreters etc.) is asked to contact Wesley Choi at 808-243-5824 or Hal Silva at 808-662-4060.
