UH: Football game gate openings, alternative parking

HAWAII vs. NEW MEXICO STATE

When: 6:05 p.m. today

Where: Aloha Stadium

Parking gates: Open 2:30 p.m., except lower Halawa gate, which opens at 1:30 p.m.

Turnstile gates: Open 3 p.m.

Traffic updates: Available on ESPN 1420 AM beginning at 4:30 p.m.

Centerplate Tailgate: To open again in the upper Halawa lot (near poles 1 and 29). Parts of the area will be air conditioned and equipped with televisions. Various types of food and beverages will be available for purchase. Fans utilizing the shuttle service from alternate parking sites (Radford High School, Kam Drive-In, Leeward Community College and Ford Island) will be allowed free access to the tailgate area. Fans can also pay a $5 cover charge to enter the tailgate.

ALTERNATE PARKING SITES (All open at 2:30 p.m.)

Kam Drive-in (approximately 1,000 vehicles) — Parking is $5 per vehicle with free shuttle service and free admission to the new tailgate area.

Leeward Community College (approximately 2,000 vehicles) — Parking is free. Cost is $2 for shuttle service with free admission to the new tailgate area.

Radford High School (approximately 400 vehicles) — Parking is $5. No shuttle service available. Free admission to the new tailgate area.

Ford Island (approximately 2,000 vehicles) — Parking is $5 per vehicle with free shuttle service and free admission to the new tailgate area. (Only for when crowds expected to exceed 30,000).

Note: Security is present at all alternate parking sites. Shuttle serviced begins at 3:30 p.m. and runs until approximately one hour after the game ends.
