Tadd Fujikawa finishes 70-73, misses cut by two shots

Advertiser Staff

Tadd Fujikawa shot a 2-over-par 73 today and missed the cut by two shots at the Nationwide Tour's Miccosukee Championship in Miami.

The 16-year-old could not dig himself out of a bad start in which he recorded a double bogey on his second hole and a bogey on the third.

Fujikawa, who shot a 1-under 70 on Thursday and had his second round postponed by rain Friday, needed to get to the cutline of 1-under to make the cut.

He has yet to make a 36-hole cut in his six attempts as a professional.

The Moanalua High School junior also had a birdie on No. 5 and a bogey on No. 6, making the turn at 3-over 38.

He parred the first two holes on the back nine, then birdied the 12th. He carded pars the rest of the way to close at 1-under 35 and finish at 1-over 143 overall.

Mark Turnesa shot an 8-under 63 and holds a four-shot lead with a two-round total of 130.

The third round also was played today.

Fujikawa gets his seventh shot at making a cut in a pro tournament next week at the Children's Miracle Network Clssic in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
