Bailey rushes for 317 in Damien loss, other prep scores

Interscholastic League of Honolulu

No. 3 Punahou 55, Damien 38

Punahou overcame 317 yards rushing and five touchdowns by Damien's Kama Bailey to defeat the Monarchs, 55-38, today in Interscholastic League of Honolulu football action at Alexander Field.

Punahou, ranked No. 3 in The Advertiser's Top 10 poll of coaches and media, improved to 6-2 overall and 4-2 in the Interscholastic League of Honolulu. Damien fell to 2-6, 1-5.

Buffanblu quarterback Cayman Shutter completed 16 of 21 passes for 290 yards and five touchdowns, including four to Robbie Toma (six catches, 165 yards).

Bailey's 39-yard TD run in the second quarter cut Punahou's lead to 20-13, but the Buffanblu answered with three straight touchdowns to lead 41-13 early in the third.

No. 9 Farrington 30, Campbell 7

The Governors (5-2-2) defeated the Sabers at Roosevelt High School to advance to next Saturday's OIA semifinals.

Farrington will face No. 10 Leilehua (6-4) in one semifinal match at Aloha Stadium. No. 6 Wai'anae (7-2) will play Kapolei (7-3) in the other semifinal at Aloha Stadium.

Campbell finishes the season at 3-4-1.
