Pleasant weather should remain through Thursday

A cloud band over the islands will break up today and move off to southeast allowing drier trade wind weather to return, according to the National Weather Service.

A high pressure system north of the islands has weakened, so the trade winds will not be as strong as the have been in recent days, forecasters said.

Expect a major change in the weather later into the new week as a front approaches from the northwest. The winds will likely shift to the southeast and weaken rapidly Thursday night and a period of unsettled weather will follow.

Here's what to expect during the next few days:

Today, scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 84. Breezy, with a east wind around 20 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Tonight, isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 74. East wind around 16 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Monday, isolated showers before noon. Partly cloudy, with a high near 83. Breezy, with a east wind around 20 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Monday night, isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 75. East wind around 16 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Tuesday, sunny, with a high near 83. Breezy, with a east wind around 20 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.

Tuesday night, mostly clear, with a low around 76. East wind around 16 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph.
