Suspect arrested in Ala Moana infant-beating probe

First-degree assault charges are pending against a man arrested yesterday on Punahou Street for investigation into the alleged beating of a 7-month-old boy Wednesday in the Ala Moana area.The suspect, who has no permanent local address, was arrested at 3 p.m. and was still being held at the main police station cellblock tonight at 7:45 p.m.
Police were alerted to the child's severe head injury by hospital personnel on Wednesday night. The injury was initially reported to the hospital as occurring in a fall.
