Big Island man charged in theft of 16 artifacts

Big Island police have charged a Kamuela man in connection with the theft of artifacts stolen Sept. 17 from a South Kohala resort.

Jay Brewer, 37, was arrested last week after police did warrant searches of a storage facility in Kona and Brewer's home. Police recovered 16 artifacts worth $60,000 and ammunition.

Brewer was charged with first-degree theft. His bail is $30,000.
