Honolulu getting 21 new firefighters Wednesday

The Honolulu Fire Department will graduate its 92nd recruit class Wednesday at McCoy Pavilion at Ala Moana Regional Park.The 90-minute ceremony starts at 10 a.m. and is open to the public.
The 21 recruits completed 23 weeks of training and are certified to the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress Fire Fighter I and harzardous materials awareness and operations levels., said HFD spokesman Capt. Terry Seelig in a news release.
In addition to studying and developing skills in fire fighting, rescue procedures, emergency medical service, and hazardous materials response, the recruits assisted with the annual Muscular Dystrophy Association camp at Camp Erdman in Mokuleia and "fill the boot" fundraising campaign, and placed first in the City & County of Honolulu Division of the annual Hawai'i Dragon Boat Race, said Seelig,
