SUNDAY'S MUST-SEE

"Masterpiece Theatre: The Amazing Mrs. Pritchard," 8 p.m., PBS. Last week's opener roared ahead like a runaway train. One moment, Ros Pritchard was a cheery supermarket manager. The next, she was running for office as an independent. A women's movement soared. Soon, a stunned Ros was prime minister. On Sunday, she's pushing to cripple the House of Lords and move the government out of London. Her husband and daughter bring new trouble. This five-week miniseries is brightly written and perfectly cast, with Jane Horrocks as Ros and Janet McTeer and Jodhi May as her top aides.

"Desperate Housewives," 8 p.m., ABC. Crises build: Phyllis Van De Kamp (the late Rex's mom) knows of Bree's fake pregnancy and brings Danielle (the pregnant one) home. Edie has figured out that Carlos and Gabrielle are having an affair. And John, once Gabrielle's teen lover, is returning.

Sports, all day, Fox. It's a one-stop day: At 7 a.m. is an NFC game, varying by region. At 10:15 a.m., viewers get the undefeated Patriots hosting the Redskins or the Saints at the 49ers. At 2 p.m., baseball takes over; Colorado hosts Boston in the fourth game of the World Series.

"Football Night in America," 1 p.m., NBC. Avoiding a collision with the World Series, there's no Sunday night game. Still, NBC offers highlights of the afternoon games.

"Nature: Silence of the Bees," 7 p.m., PBS. Each year, this special says, honeybees pollinate $14 billion worth of crops and seeds. Now they are inexplicably disappearing. Here's the season opener, with F. Murray Abraham ("Amadeus") taking over as narrator.

"CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," 7 p.m., CBS. "Viva Laughlin" has been yanked after just two episodes and "Amazing Race" will return to its old slot next week. For now, a "CSI" rerun fills the spot.

"The Bourne Supremacy" (2004), 7:30 p.m., NBC. As this high-energy sequel begins, our hero (Matt Damon) still has no memory; he lives quietly with his girlfriend — until an assassin finds him. From there, things are quick and involving.

"Cold Case," 8 p.m., CBS. Back in 1992, a teen genius was killed after his brother had him use his math skills dishonestly. Now the case is reopened.

"Shark," 9 p.m., CBS. Here's another of those from-the-headline stories. Stark goes after the fight promoter who pushed his men to take steroids; three committed suicide.

"Brothers & Sisters," 9:01 p.m., ABC. Kitty's announcement on Halloween causes a stir. Also, Sarah and Joe battle over custody of the kids.
