Kauai brushfire burns 6 acres in Kokee

A Kaua'i brushfire that burned about six acres in Koke'e today was declared under control at 6:48 p.m.

The firefight near the horseshoe turn off Koke'e Road that started at 3:04 p.m. involved 18 firefighters and rescue specialists from the Hanape'e, Kapa'a, Koloa and Lihu'e fire stations, two helicopters, and additional resources provided by the Pacific Missile Range Facility and J & R Welding and Equipment Rentals, according to a county news release.

No one was injured and the fire did not threaten property.
