Halawa man arrested in attempted-murder probe

Police today arrested a 19-year-old Halawa man suspected of driving a pickup truck at an another man during a melee in Salt Lake Oct. 20.

The man was arrested by Pearl City Crime Reduction Unit officers at a Kohomua Street residence in Halawa at 3:30 p.m. and booked for attempted second-degree murder. He was identified as the driver of the pickup truck earlier today by the 22-year-old victim.

According to police, the victim was among a handful of men who were allegedly involved in a fight with about 10 other men over a "turf dispute in Salt Lake.

The man struck by the truck suffered a broken arm, police said.
