Disaster response training starts today on Kauai

Kauai County's Community Emergency Response Team training begins today and will run will Mondays for the next six weeks from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

The training is designed to prepare citizens around the island to take care of the immediate needs of their families and neighbors following a major disaster.

Among the topics that will be covered are the following: disaster preparedness; disaster fire suppression; medical operations; light search and rescue operations; disaster psychology and team organization; and disaster simulation.
