A University of Hawai'i at Manoa associate professor was arrested today with allegedly trying to lure a minor for sex via the Internet.

Marc P.C. Fossorier was identified by state Attorney General Mark Bennett in a news release as the man arrested by Hawai'i Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force agents for first-degree electronic enticement of a child.

Fossorier, 43, of Hawai'i Kai, teaches electrical engineering at UH-Manoa.

He was arrested at a McDonald's Restaurant at 98-147 Kamehameha Highway in Pearl City at 10:59 a.m. today, according to Honolulu police booking log information.

According to the news release, Fossorier allegedly set up a sexual encounter and designated pickup site with a task force agent posing as a 15-year-old girl.

Fossorier was arrested when he showed up for the meeting. He is being held at the main police station cellblock tonight, pending charges.

If convicted, Fossorier could be sentenced to 10 years in prison and would have to register as a sex offender.

UH spokesman Gregg Takayama declined comment on the arrest.
