Nanakuli cycle fatality identified

Advertiser Staff

A motorcyclist who died early Friday morning at The Queen's Medical Center after being injured in a traffic collision Thursday night in Nanakuli has been identified by the Honolulu Medical Examiner's office as Stephen Ahn, 23, of Wai'anae.

Autopsy findings listed cause and manner of death as multiple internal injuries due to an accidental motor vehicle collision.

Deaths involving motorcycle operators and/or passengers have accounted for six of O'ahu's seven traffic fatalities since Sept. 4.

Police vehicular homicide investigator Sgt. Alan Vegas said Ahn was west-bound when he collided with a 1992 Toyota Corolla turning left from Farrington Highway to Lualualei Naval Road at 8:50 p.m.

Ahn died at Queen's at 12:30 a.m. Friday. The 41-year-old woman driver of the car was not injured.

The death was O'ahu's 51st traffic fatality of the year.
