Baseball: Dragons take 2-1 lead in Japan Series

Associated Press

NAGOYA, Japan — Trey Hillman, the new manager of the Kansas City Royals, will need his current team to rally in order to finish up with a championship.

The Chunichi Dragons took a 2-1 lead over Hillman's Nippon Ham Fighters in the best-of-seven Japan Series today, scoring seven runs in the first inning en route to a 9-1 win.

Hillman is winding up his tenure with the Fighters after five seasons in Japan.

Fighters starter Masaru Takeda allowed five runs on three hits.

"I wasn't able to get the job done," Takeda said. "I feel terrible about letting this happen in such an important game."

Game 4 is tomorrow at Nagoya Dome.
