Kauai credit union subject of another phishing attack

Advertiser Staff

Members of the Kauai Community Federal Credit Union are being targeted by a new wave of phishing e-mails today that attempt to get people to disclose account and credit card information.

New e-mails sent today include one that says the member has a message from the credit union. Pasted below that is a message that says the account has been disabled after three unsuccessful login attempts.

A second e-mail sent today is similar in saying the account has been temporarily disabled and asking people to click on a link that leads them to a bogus Web site that appears to be the credit union's.

There account holders are asked to type in their account number and access code. This leads to another page where members are asked to give credit card information.

The e-mails follow two yesterday that promised $50 to members if they filled out a survey.

The Kauai Community Federal Credit Union and other financial institutions have warned customers against such e-mails, noting they never send electronic messages asking for sensitive financial account information.
