Ewa Weed & Seed was selected earlier this month as the National 2007 McGruff Crime Prevention Program of the Year for populations under 250,000 by the National Crime Prevention Council.

Ewa Weed & Seed site coordinator Gale Braceros and Ewa Beach Lions Club secretary Eileen Lynn were flown to Atlanta to receive the award at the 8th National Conference on Preventing Crime.

The council gave a McGruff suit to the Kapolei police station as a result of the recognition. The suit will allow McGruff to be present at future Ewa Weed & Seed community events.
