Hawaii radio and TV personality James H. "Kimo" Kahoano was arrested near the Waimanalo Town Center Tuesday night on suspicion of drunken driving.

Police arrest records show he was pulled over near 41-1540 Kalaniana'ole Highway about 9:45 p.m. and arrested on suspicion of operating a vehicle under the influence of an intoxicating substance.

Police said Kahoano was involved in a minor vehicle collision on Oneawa Street in Kailua and fled the scene. An all-points bulletin was issued and he was pulled over in Waimanalo.

Kahoano was taken to the Kailua Police Substation, where he failed a Breathalizer test, which recorded his blood alcohol concentration at more than 0.2, police said. Under Hawai'i law, a driver is deemed to be intoxicated if his or her blood alcohol concentration is .08 or more.

He was also arrested on suspicion of leaving the scene of a motor vehicle collision resulting in injury or damage.

Kahoano, who listed a home address on Dominis Street in Makiki, posted $500 bail on his own behalf and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing at 8:30 a.m. Nov. 29 at Kane'ohe District Court. He could not be reached to comment on his arrest.
