Hawaii under high surf advisory

A high surf advisory has been issued for east-facing shores of all islands except Niihau and Lanai through noon today, the National Weather Service said.Surf along east shores this morning is expected to be 6 to 8 feet, but will drop below the 8-foot advisory level by the afternoon.
Surf along north shores will be 5 to 7 feet overnight and decrease to 4 to 6 feet.
Surf along west and south shores will be 3 to 5 feet today, but south shores will see a decrease to 2 to 4 feet by the afternoon.
Small to moderate surf will continue along north and south facing shores into the weekend. A larger north swell is possible early next week, while a late season south swell may boost surf around the advisory level across south facing shores Sunday and Monday, the National Weather Service said.
