Fujikawa, McLachlin paired together in PGA event

Advertiser Staff

Hawai'i golfers Tadd Fujikawa and Parker McLachlin will be paired together the first two rounds of this week's Children's Miracle Network Classic in Orlando, Fla.

Making the cut at this tournament — the last of the PGA Tour season — has become increasingly important for both golfers.

For McLachlin, a Punahou alum, how high he finishes will determine whether he keeps his full PGA-playing privileges.

He ranks 136th on the tour money list and needs to get to 125, the cutoff.

McLachlin, who tied for 12th in last week's Ginn sur Mer Classic and earned $91,125, has earned $597,557 so far this season. The 125th player has earned $758,734.

For Fujikawa, a Moanalua High School junior, making a cut would represent a breakthrough.

The 16-year-old has yet to make a 36-hole pro cut — where tournaments trim the field in about half for weekend play — in six tournaments since turning professional in July.

The 72-hole tournament starts Thursday.
