Trial delayed for suspect in murder of Japanese visitor

Advertiser Staff

The starting trial date for a man accused of murdering a Japanese visitor in April has been pushed back to Feb. 20, 2008.

Kirk Lankford, charged with killing 21-year-old Masumi Watanabe, remains at the O'ahu Community Correctional Center unable to post $1 million bail.

Lankford's trial was scheduled to start Monday at Circuit Court.

Police are continuing periodic searches in Windward O'ahu for Watanabe's body.
