Bengals waive ex-Warrior Uperesa, might sign him back

Advertiser Staff

Former University of Hawaii offensive tackle Dane Uperesa was cut today by the Cincinnati Bengals but could be back tomorrow if he clears waivers.

The team got down to the NFL-mandatory 53 players today by cutting players such as Florida quarterback Doug Johnson and placing former No. 1 pick, running back Chris Perry, on the physically unable to perform list.

Johnson was sent packing when the Bengals traded what is believed to be a seventh-rounder to the St. Louis Rams for third-year quarterback Ryan Fitzpartick.

According to the team's Web site, eight of the players cut today figure to be back here tomorrow if they are signed to the practice squad.

The article mentions Uperesa, a free-agent signee, as one of the candidates.
