University of Hawai'i athletic director Herman Frazier said he will sign an NCAA Division I-AA team to play the Warriors for a Sept. 6, 2008 football date at Aloha Stadium.

Frazier said he is talking to four I-AA schools — three on the West Coast and one on the East Coast that he would not identify — for the opening that is sandwiched between road dates with Florida (Aug. 30) and Oregon State (Sept. 13).

"The first (one) to fax me back the offer that fits with what I've got on the table, then I'll sign it," Frazier said.

Frazier had pledged to announce an opponent by yesterday.

He said Portland State is not one of the three West Coast teams he is talking to but that he plans to talk to former UH defensive coordinator Jerry Glanville. "I won't rule (them) out." Frazier said Northern Colorado, tonight's opponent, was not under consideration.

The Sept. 6 date is one of two remaining to be filled for 2008. Frazier said he is negotiating with a Division I-A team for Dec. 6.

UH also plays Washington State in 2008.
