Kapolei man critically injured in motorcycle crash

Advertiser Staff

A 25-year-old Kapolei man was critically injured today in a motorcycle crash on North Nimitz Highway, 530 feet east of Sumner Street.

Police vehicular homicide investigator Sgt. Lorenzo Ridella said speed appears to be a factor in the 1:20 p.m. accident.

The injured man was operating a 2002 black Yamaha motorcycle which failed to negotiate a right-hand bend in the roadway near Flora-Dec Sales Inc. at 373 North Nimitz, hit a curb on the left side of the highway before striking a concrete bridge railing.

The rider was thrown from the motorcycle. He was not wearing a helmet, according to Ridella.

The man is at The Queen's Medical Center with a fractured skull, broken arm and ankle, internal injuries and multiple contusions, said Ridella.
