A 24-year-old woman was charged today for allegedly punching a police officer in the face Friday in Waikiki and causing injury to his eyeball.

Christy P. Texeira of McCully is accused of first-degree assault on a police officer. Her bail is $11,000.

The officer was treated for injuries, police said.

Texeira was arrested at 400 Hobron Lane at 6:30 p.m. Friday. Police had gone to a convenience store there to investigate a theft complaint against Texeira.
