Scholarships

The following scholarships have been awarded:

  • Lima Kokua: Amara Yapp, 'Aiea High School graduate; Sarah Nakaso, Kailua High School graduate; both will attend the University of Hawai'i.

  • Harriet Bouslog scholarship: Sacha Ann Malepe, Ka'u High School graduate; Byron Kelii Poy, Kamehameha Schools-Hawai'i graduate; both will attend University of Hawai'i.

  • Market City Foundation scholarship: Courtney Gaddis of Kalani High School, who will attend Whitworth College; Andrew Gines of Saint Louis School, who will attend Stanford University.

  • University of Hawai'i Stars of Oceania Scholarship: Jansen Santos of Pohnpei; Tamera Heine of the Marshall Islands.

  • Toyota Community Scholars: Kyle Monette of Mililani High School.

  • McDonald's Restaurants of Hawaii: Celinda Stanton of St. Andrew's Priory and McDonald's Waimanalo, to attend Lehigh University; Chantell Tautua of Pahoa High School and McDonald's Kea'au, to attend University of Hawai'i-Hilo; Sarah Mae Burdios of Moanalua High School and McDonald's Salt Lake, who will attend the University of Hawai'i-Manoa; Caselyn Ragmac of James Campbell High School and McDonald's of Waipahu, to attend Leeward Community College; Elmira Co of Kapolei High School and McDonald's Kapolei, to Washington State University; Miriam Jose of Leilehua High School and McDonald's of Wahiawa, to Hawai'i Pacific University; Emilie Jiminez of Mililani High School and McDonald's of Mililani, to Chaminade University; Krystle Rasos, of Maui High School and McDonald's of Kahului, to Hawai'i Pacific University; Ashley Villamor of Waipahu High School and McDonald's of Kunia, to Southern Oregon University; Joseph Fong Jr. of McKinley High School and McDonald's Ke'eaumoku, to Kapi'olani Community College.

  • Shannon Brown of Kailua has received a Mike Harper Leadership Scholarship Award from ConAgra Foods Foundation. She will attend University of Mary Washington. The award is sponsored by Scholarship America.

  • The Mamoru and Aiko Takitani Foundation Inc. has designated the following to receive scholarships: Zoe Morrison of Punahou School has received the Mamoru Takitani Distinguished Award and will attend Harvard University; Ruth Chen of 'Iolani School has received the Aiko Takitani Distinguished Student Award and will pursue a degree in medicine; Mary Guo of Roosevelt High School has received the Karen Uno Outstanding Student Award and plans to become a physician.
