Superferry service remains on hold

Advertiser Staff

Service to Kauai and Maui remains on hold today for the Hawaii Superferry with Wednesday the soonest it could resume, a company spokeswoman said.

"We don't have any plans to go Maui or Kauai today," said Lori Abe, a company spokeswoman. "Like our website says, not until Sept. 5 at the earliest for Kauai and Sept. 11 for Maui."

Meanwhile, attorneys for People for the Preservation of Kauai, a group of activists which prevented the Superferry from entering Nawiliwili Harbor last week, plan to go to court tomorrow to halt the Superferry. The group will seek a temporary restraining order in Kauai Circuit Court.

Last week a Maui judge issued a restraining order against the ferry and scheduled hearings beginning Thursday.
