Homecoming delayed two hours for Schofield soldiers

Advertiser Staff

Homecoming ceremonies have been delayed until 5:30 p.m. today for about 100 Schofield Barracks soldiers who are returning from a 12-month deployment to Iraq, said unit spokeswoman Lt. Col. Vi Strong.

The soldiers are assigned to the 8th Field Surgical Team and the 524th Combat Service Sustainment Battalion.

The ceremony will be held at the wind tunnel on Wheeler Army Airfield.

The public is not invited, Strong said.

"It's just for family members," she said. "It's an emotional time."
