JAPANESE CULTURAL CENTER OF HAWAI'I

Eric K. Martinson — who was active in the 2002 effort to save the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawai'i, and subsequently elected to its board of directors — has been elected board chairman for 2007-2008. He has served as board vice chairman since the 2002-2003 term, and before that as chairman of the facilities and operations committee. Martinson is managing director of Tradewind Capital Group, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Island Holdings Inc. He is also on the boards of Hawaii Imin Shiryo Hozon Kai, and the Native Hawaiian Chamber of Commerce business mentor program.

The 2007-2008 JCCH board of directors consists of chairman Martinson, and members Donn Ariyoshi, Dean K. Hirata, Wayne Kamitaki, Lee Moriwaki, Wayne Muraoka, Miki Okumura, Susan Yamada Scott, Sherman Shiraishi, Yuki Lei Sugimura, Alan Tomonari and Ronald Ushijima; plus new members Susan Eichor, Gordon Kagawa and Curt Otaguro.

HAWAI'I OPERA THEATRE

JOSEPH A. PADUA has rejoined the Hawai'i Opera Theatre as director of finance and administration. Padua began his arts administration career in 1993 as HOT artistic administrator. In the interim, Padua has held various levels of arts administration, production and finance positions on the Mainland — including as New York City Opera budget manager, Long Wharf Theatre interim general manager, and managerial roles at the Washington National Opera.

CITY MILL CO. LTD.

Home improvement center chain, City Mill Co., has named Marion Noble human resources manager. The 25-year veteran of the human resources and publishing industries was most recently human resources benefits analyst for the San Dieguito Union High School District in Encinitas, Calif.

PETER VINCENT ARCHITECTS

Michael H. Subiaga, a 10-year veteran of Peter Vincent Architects, has been named a partner in the firm. Subiaga has more than 22 years of architectural experience and 17 years of management experience. His current projects include Crossroads at Kapolei Shopping Center, Longhi's Waikoloa on the Big Island, and various Maui Divers and Island Pearl retail stores throughout Hawai'i, Guam and California.

ISLAND INSURANCE COMPANY LTD.

Paul Iijima has been named vice president and controller of Island Insurance Co. Ltd., the state's largest locally owned and managed property and casualty insurance carrier. Iijima has more than 16 years in the insurance industry and is a former supervising senior auditor for KPMG LLP.

COMMUNICATIONS PACIFIC

Award-winning CNN journalist JOHN LEWIS has joined Communications Pacific as an account supervisor within CommPac's public relations practice. Lewis, who spent almost 30 years living and working in Asia, comes to his new position after two years as media relations specialist at the East-West Center.
