POLICE BEAT
Motorcyclist critically hurt

Advertiser Staff

A 25-year-old Kapolei man was critically injured yesterday in a motorcycle crash on North Nimitz Highway near Sumner Street.

Police Sgt. Lorenzo Ridella said speed appears to have been a factor in the 1:20 p.m. accident.

The man was on a 2002 black Yamaha motorcycle that failed to negotiate a right-hand bend near Flora-Dec Sales Inc. at 373 N. Nimitz Highway, hit the left curb and struck a concrete bridge railing.

The rider, who was thrown from the motorcycle, was not wearing a helmet, according to Ridella. He was at The Queen's Medical Center with a fractured skull and other injuries, Ridella said.
