Head-on crash sends three to Kauai hospital

Advertiser Staff

A head-on collision this morning left three Kaua'i residents with unknown injuries after they crashed on the Kapa'a bypass road, Kaua'i police said.

A 16-year-old girl in a Honda Accord was driving north on the bypass road around 7:40 a.m. when she lost control, veered into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a south-bound vehicle driven by a 33-year-old woman, police said.

The two women were taken by ambulance to Wilcox Hospital for examination, along with a 10-month-old infant who was traveling with the adult. The extent of their injuries was not immediately known, police said.

Traffic on the bypass road was rerouted for about 45 minutes until both vehicles were towed from the area.
