Hawaii's Plaza Club hosting charity dinner Oct. 19

Advertiser Staff

Downtown Honolulu's Plaza Club is hosting a charity dinner Oct. 19 as part of the 50th anniversary of ClubCorp, the company that operates Plaza Club.

The dinner is part of a broad fundraising effort by Dallas-based ClubCorp, which is hosting golf tournaments at 94 country clubs and dinners at 56 business and sports clubs. The company expects to host 15,000 golfers, serve 5,000 diners and raise $3 million.

Proceeds from the events will go to the Muscular Dystrophy Association's "Augie's Quest" initiative, the PGA Foundation, the breast cancer support group Susan G. Komen for the Cure and a ClubCorp employee crisis assistance fund. The MDA is to receive 40 percent of proceeds, with the other groups splitting the balance equally.

The Plaza Club event starts at 6:30 p.m. with appetizers and a silent auction, followed by dinner and entertainment from 7:30 to 9 p.m., and dancing from 9 p.m. to midnight. Cost is $124. Formal attire is required. The event is open to the public.
