Hoku shares climb as analyst upgrades rating

Shares of Hoku Scientific Inc., the Kapolei-based technology company, rose $1.66, or 18 percent, to $10.75 cents a share in Nasdaq Stock Market trading.

The company was raised to "market perform" from "underperform" by Piper Jaffray & Co. analyst Jesse Pichel, according to Bloomberg News. Pichel, in a research note, wrote Hoku has secured a $45 million letter of credit from Suntech Power Holdings Co., Bloomberg reported.

Hoku has risen $2.63 in the last week.
