Okinawans focus of talk

An expert on Okinawan culture will discuss the ethnic group's identity in a seminar tomorrow at the University of Hawai'i-Manoa.

Koji Taira, professor emeritus of labor economics and industrial relations at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, will speak from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at the Center for Korean Studies auditorium.

The free event is open to the public.

For the past 20 years, Taira has served as editor and publisher of The Ryu-kyuanist, a newsletter for scholars and researchers of Okinawa Studies.
