Man critically hurt in crash; North Shore road reopens

Advertiser Staff

A traffic accident that has left an elderly man in critical condition closed Kaukonahua Road for about two hours this morning.

The road, which runs between Waialua and Schofield Barracks, reopened at about 9:20 a.m.

Honolulu Emergency Services officials transported the man, reportedly in his 80s, to The Queen's Medical Center. The man was the driver of the vehicle that crashed in the single-vehicle accident.

Emergency responders received a report about the accident on Kaukonahua Road, between Wilikina Drive and Kamananui Road near the University of Hawai'i's Experimental Station, shortly before 7 this morning.
