Hawaii actor narrates Japanese-language PSA

Advertiser Staff

"Hawaiian Blue — Hawaii Reef Etiquette," a seven-minute public service announcement produced by Big Island-based underwater videographer-producer Ziggy Livnat's For the Sea Productions, now is available in a Japanese version narrated by Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, a local actor in numerous international film releases.

The Hawaii Tourism Authority funded the Japanese adaptation that incorporates careful synchronization of spectacular footage of reef fish, with an engaging and often humorous narrative. Tagawa provides the voice of the lead character, the Humuhumunukunukuapua'a, the state fish.

The English version has received eight gold medals from film festivals around the world, including the prestigious International Wildlife Film Festival award for Best in Advertising PSA category in 2006, and the 2007 Lion Award from Wildlife Asia in Singapore.
