Advertiser Staff

The Rev. Mark J. Gantley has been appointed judicial vicar for the Diocese of Honolulu, after the Rev. Joseph Grimaldi's departure for California.

Gantley, who was born and raised in a small town near Syracuse, N.Y., is on loan to the diocese for several years. He attended Le Moyne College in Syracuse, and seminary at The Catholic University of America. Ordained as a priest in 1991, he returned to Catholic University, graduating with a licentiate in canon law in 1998.

Canon law covers many aspects, including handling annulments.

Gantley has served as parochial vicar at several parishes in New York.  In the Syracuse diocese, he also served as a judge on the Tribunal for three years and a columnist for the diocesan newspaper.  For the past six years, he has been on loan to the Diocese of Las Vegas.  He also currently answers canon law questions on the www.ewtn.com web site.
