Man suspected of beating, robbing woman in Aiea

Advertiser Staff

A 33-year-old man was arrested yesterday on suspicion of beating a woman with a stick and taking her purse, according to police.

At about 9:15 a.m. yesterday, they said, the man walked up to a 52-year-old woman who was getting out of her car on Kamehameha Highway in Aiea and threatened her with three-inch metal stick.

The man then grabbed the woman and dragged her away from her car and began beating her and pulling at her purse.

After pulling the purse away from the woman, police said, the man took off running.

Responding patrol officers caught the man. He was brought back to where the woman was and she identified him as the man who had attacked her, police said.

A search of the man revealed what police believe to be crystal methamphetamine and an ice pipe.

The 33-year-old was arrested on suspicion of first-degree robbery, possession of a dangerous drug, possession of drug paraphernalia, and two outstanding warrants.
