HILO
Improvements ahead at library

Advertiser Staff

Gov. Linda Lingle has released $724,000 for accessibility and other improvements at Hilo Public Library.

The money is for renovations to comply with the federal Americans with Disabilities Act, and other building safety improvements.

The eight-month project, which begins in January, will include renovations to the parking lot, restrooms and entrance area as well as upgrades to the library's exterior windows and emergency lighting system. "This project will ensure that Hilo Public Library is safe and accessible for all patrons who wish to use the library to meet their personal, educational and professional needs," Lingle said in a news release.
