Kids celebrate Lili'uokalani

Advertiser Staff

The students at Queen Lili'uokalani Elementary School will be celebrating the queen's birthday tomorrow at the Wai'alae Avenue school.

The annual event will run from 9 to 10 a.m. in front of the tile mural on the campus.

The Royal Hawaiian Band will accompany the students, who will perform Lili'uokalani's music.

The Queen Lili'uokalani Children's Center donated a giant maile lei to drape on the school's mural wall.

A special planting of purple crown flowers on the campus will follow.

This year marks the 169th year since the queen's birth.
