Peace event kicks off with candlelight ceremony

Mahatma Gandhi's birthday kicks off a celebration of peace, which begins with a candlelight ceremony at 6 p.m. Oct. 2, with music by the Royal Hawaiian Band.Also part of the celebration is the World Peace Walk, to be held 8 a.m. Oct. 6 from Magic Island to Kalakaua Avenue, stopping at Gandhi's statue. An interfaith program will begin at 9: 15 am with a Hawaiian blessings. It includes water and snacks after; participants are suggested to wear white clothes and comfortable shows and bring an umbrella, glasses and caps/visors.
