Puna couple charged in marijuana raid

Advertiser Staff

A Puna couple has been arrested and charged with growing marijuana on their 10-acre property, Hawai'i County police said today.

Vice officers seized 630 marijuana plants ranging in height from 6 inches to 4 feet when they executed a search warrant Tuesday on the property on Pohoiki Road, police said.

Police also confiscated two rifles and 8.5 pounds of dried marijuana. The marijuana was being grown in two shipping containers, a barn and a greenhouse, police said.

Charged in the case were 51-year-old Robert Petricci and 45-year-old Sara Steiner of Puna, police said. Each was charged with four counts of commercial promotion of marijuana and other drug charges.

They remained at the Hilo police cellblock today, unable to post bail.
