Portuguese Festa comes back around on Sept. 22-23

"Festa," a two-festival of things Portuguese, will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 22 and 23 at McCoy Pavilion, Ala Moana Park.

The Hawaii Council on Portuguese Heritage (HCPH) is presents its 29th annual event. "Festa," pronounced fesh-tah, is festival in Portuguese.

The event features Portuguese fare including Portuguese bean soup, Portuguese sausage (linguica) hot dogs, Portuguese sweet bread (pao doce), cod fish stew (bacalhau), vinha d'alhos sandwiches, and malassadas. A Portuguese-style "mixed plate" will be offered by Kailua's Agnes' Portuguese Bake Shop

And the Portuguese prince of comedy, Frank DeLima, performs at 3 p.m. both days.

Also on tap:

Craftworks imported from Portugal, local artisans and vendors, cooking demonstrations and cultural displays.

Tickets: $3 for adults, free for children 10 and younger.
