Flight restrictions around Honolulu for Bush visit

Advertiser Staff

HONOLULU — The Federal Aviation Administration has announced temporary flight restrictions for certain airspace in and around Honolulu for Saturday because of President Bush's scheduled stop.

The FAA said the restrictions prohibit all private pilots within a 10-mile radius of Honolulu from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Regularly scheduled commercial passenger and cargo aircraft are not affected.

All private aircraft wanting to fly within 30 miles of Honolulu must have a flight plan and be in direct contact with air traffic control, FAA spokesman Ian Gregor said.

Bush is scheduled to be in Hawai'i late in the morning Saturday for a three-hour lunch with Hawai'i-based troops before leaving in the afternoon.

Bush last traveled to Hawai'i in November on his way back from a six-day trip to Southeast Asia.
