Superferry has no immediate plans to go to Kauai

Advertiser Staff

Hawaii Superferry said this afternoon that it has no immediate plans to resume service to Kaua'i in the wake of a Kaua'i Circuit Court judge's ruling denying a temporary restraining order filed by environmentalists to block ferry service to Nawiliwili Harbor.

Lori Abe, a Superferry spokeswoman, said the Alakai has a one-time voyage between Honolulu and Maui tomorrow so customers can pick up vehicles stranded when ferry service was canceled last week. The ferry has no plans to go to Kaua'i on Sunday or Monday, she said.

The Superferry released this statement:

"We are pleased with the decision by Judge (Randal) Valenciano. Hawaii Superferry is grateful for the support and excitement shown by the residents of Hawai'i.

"We look forward to resuming service and providing the people of Hawai'i with a safe and reliable inter-island ferry system. A date for the resumption of service to and from Kaua'i has not yet been set."
