Male quartet sought for comic musical, "Plaid Tidings"

Advertiser Staff

Manoa Valley Theatre is seeking a male quartet to performing in its November-December production, "Plaid Tidings."

Auditions will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Bakken Auditorium, on the Mid-Pacific Institute campus.

Prospects should be able to sing in four-part harmony, to depict a group of 1950s vintage, albeit in a Christmas mode. "Plaid Tidings" is a spin-off of the off-Broadway musical hit, "Forever Plaid."

Auditioners should prepare two songs with a nostalgic '50s flavor; bring sheet music in the appropriate key. An accompanist will be provided. There will be no karaoke or a cappella tryouts. A sense of comedy and high energy are assets to portray the four singers, with minimal dance part of the requirements.

The production will run Nov. 7 through Dec. 16, with rehearsals beginning Sept. 17.

Andrew Sakaguchi will direct, Melina Lillios will conduct the orchestra.

Scripts may be perused at the MVT business office, 2833 E. Manoa Road.
