The man suffered first degree burns and the women all had difficulty breathing, said Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for the city's emergency services department.
One of the women lived next door, Cheplic said.
Eight adults and two children lived in the home where the fire broke out in a bedroom that had been added to the back of the house, said Fire Capt. Terry Seelig.
The residents were returning home from a fishing trip this morning when they saw the fire, Seelig said.
It spread from the back bedroom which had no smoke alarms to other parts of the house and also to the vinyl siding of the home next door, Seelig said.
The next door home suffered no structural damage, Seelig said.
Firefighters were called to the scene at 8:11 a.m. About 20 firefighters from three engines and a ladder company had the fire under control by 8:24 a.m., Seelig said.
The American Red Cross of Hawaii was asked to assist the residents, Seelig said.
Fire investigators were at the home today trying to figure out how the first started and the extent of the damage, Seelig said.
