Hawaii Superferry arrives back on O'ahu

Advertiser Staff

The Hawaii Superferry arrived back on O'ahu from Maui this evening without incident.

Hours earlier, Superferry had arrived in Maui, escorted by the U.S. Coast Guard and state Department of Land and Natural Resources.

There, passengers who live on Maui drove about 30 vehicles off of the Superferry, which were replaced by about 30 more vehicles driven by customers from Honolulu for the return trip to Honolulu Harbor's Pier 19.

One man on Maui's shore carried a sign that read, "Super Slimy" but there were no other protesters.

The Superferry blew its horn and set sail for O'ahu at about 2:45 p.m.
