Driver dies following crash on Punchbowl Street

A man who appeared to be in his late 30s or early 40s died late last night or early this morning following a one-car crash on a ramp that leads from Punchbowl Street on to the westbound lanes of the H-1 Freeway.Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for the city Emergency Services Department, said the driver and sole occupant of the crashed car was taken to The Queen's Medical Center in critical condition following the 10:45 crash, and later died at Queen's.
The Punchbowl on-ramp was closed for about two and a half hours while police vehicular homicide investigators examined the scene.
